Go On Worcestershire joins the Digital Champions Network
Go On Worcestershire has become the latest organisation to join Digital Unite’s Digital Champions Network as part of the national Lottery-funded One Digital programme.
The Network is being used as part of Go On Worcestershire, a partnership between the Worcestershire County Council and 29 other organisations to ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity and support to confidently go online.
The Network’s extensive training and resources will be used by Worcestershire’s Digital Connectors and volunteer Digital Champions across the county to help them enhance the digital skills support they offer local residents.
Digital Unite’s Digital Champions Network is a unique and comprehensive training and support system for aspiring and experienced Digital Champions. It offers a wide range of self-study online courses to meet a Digital Champion’s role and training needs. All of the courses are linked to the national Open Badges schemes to evidence personal and professional development. There is also a structured Resource Centre collating over 500 ready-to-use training and teaching resources and a web app enabling Champions to record their learner interactions quickly and easily.
As part of the national One Digital programme Digital Unite is now offering organisations new funded opportunities to join the Network and develop their own Digital Champion armies.
Dr Frances Howie, Director of Public Health, Worcestershire County Council, on behalf of Go On Worcestershire said: “As part of Go On Worcestershire we have a growing network of Digital Champions across the county providing essential digital skills support amongst their local communities. Being part of Digital Unite’s Digital Champions Network will enable us to provide standardised and verified training for all of our Digital volunteers and easy access to new, relevant and up-to-date teaching resources. We’re looking forward to seeing how the Network can strengthen the valuable work of our Champions.”
