How to get Spotify
If you’d like to listen to a huge variety of music online through your computer, without having to download and store it, one of the best options is the music-streaming service, Spotify. Since late 2011, you need a Facebook account to sign-up.
You’ll need:
- a computer with access to the internet, ideally through a broadband connection
- a Facebook account.
Follow these step-by-step instructions to get Spotify and listen to free music online
Step 1: Open a browser such as Internet Explorer.
Step 2: Type the following link into the address bar at the top of the screen: www.spotify.com/uk.
Step 3: Click Get Spotify.

Step 4: You’ll be taken to a sign-up form. Spotify will automatically fill this information in for you using your Facebook log-in details.

Step 5: You will need to agree to the terms and conditions of use. When you’ve ticked to show your agreement, click Go to the next step for the free service.

Step 7: You will be taken to a page where you can choose the free – ‘Open’ – service or to subscribe to the Premium or Unlimited packages. To get free access, choose Open and then Continue.

Step 8: Now that your account has been created, you’ll need to download the Spotify program. Click Download.

Step 9: Depending on the version of Windows you’ve got and the browser you’re running, you may be taken to another page where you’ll need to click Download or a window will pop up and ask you to click Run. Wait a few minutes for the program to download.
Step 10: Click Run again if asked.
Step 11: Click Install or double-click the file name in your ‘Downloads’ folder.
You have now installed Spotify.
